The Insomniacs Ball – a Kill all Hippies / Stylish Riots event   – This is London's only all night indie event - where one can get to see great bands today in a chaotic yet intimate environment before they get so big not only will there will be 3 yards and a wall of security people between them and the audience, they have lost their street cred. At the end of the night, one leaves with a "wish you were here feeling - boy did you miss a big one".

Similarly, as a photographer, one can have a level of access not only to the bands, but often to the stage and surrounding environment, producing interesting angles to shoot from. Also lots of bruises from banging into equipment and falling off things, crawling under the stage to get from the front to the back… SeOne is a bit of a labyrinth to get around; I couldn’t even find the Frog room so missed whoever was playing there.

Then there are the punters, a frenzied rabble of ecstatic over the top dedicated fans just having a f–ing good time – check out the faces of the crowd at the end of each bands page. Crowd surfing like mad into the pit. After one kid bounced his head off the stage on his way into the beer cans and crap in the pit, I had to put my camera down and try to catch them as they came over the top. Almost got flattened a couple of times, winged on the head with mike stands and guitars – great fun – sure beats other occupations for laughs.

This is why I live in London, this is why it is such a cauldron of creativity and craziness, where else does this chemical mix exist?
